Yunel Cruz is a bachata singer/songwriter from New York City who scored his first hit single with “Dominicanita” in 2010. Born Jofre Cruz, he is influenced by Miles Peña and Frankie Negron, wrote his first song at age nine, and studied at Fisher College in Boston. Cruz’s breakout single, “Dominicanita,” was released on the four-song Something Different EP on the independent label Kobe Records in 2010, along with an alternate version of the song, “Mi Mexicanita.” Nominated Best New Artist at Premio Lo Nuestro. Took place 3rd in the Top 10 Billboard Singles including Dominicanita. Featured on Don Omar’s new album MTO2: Don Omar feat Yunel Cruz “La Llave De Tu Corazon.”
