AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons announced today that platinum recording hip-hop artist Rob Base will perform during halftime of the Detroit Pistons game versus the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, January 10 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
“We are pleased to add Rob Base to a list of talented performers providing game entertainment at our home games this season,” said Harlan Hendrickson, Vice President of Lifestyle Marketing for Palace Sports & Entertainment and the Pistons. “We look forward to his performance during the Pistons game on Tuesday, January 10 when the Pistons host the World Champion Dallas Mavericks.”
Base (with DJ E-Z Rock) is best known for his 1988 platinum hip-hop classic “It Takes Two” and 1989 release “Joy and Pain,” riding the hit-making songs onto R&B radio stations as well as dance clubs while providing a touchstone style known as hip-house.
“It Takes Two” became a street sensation upon its release in mid-1988. The single reached the R&B Top 20 and Pop Top-40, ultimately going platinum and earning Base and DJ E-Z Rock Single of the Year honors both in Spin and The Village Voice.
